I call for important things. I don't mind a call, and in fact, to your point, find it easier when you need to work something out with someone. My struggle is finding time and space to make the call in a world where you wait on hold for a long time, work in an open office space where you have no privacy, and every adult in the home is working fulltime so someone has to carve out the time to crunch it into the workday or night.
That's a 1000% valid point. That's a big reason why many people don't make these requests. If it is a five-minute call, it is a no-brainer. If it is a 45-minute or hourlong phone call, the calculus really changes.
